The Pacific Fishery Management Council (Pacific Council) will convene a webinar meeting of its Groundfish Advisory Subpanel (GAP) and Marine Planning Committee (MPC) to discuss items on the Pacific Council’s September 2023 meeting agenda. This meeting is open to the public and will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Pacific Time or when business for the day is completed. This meeting is being conducted remotely with a web broadcast that provides the opportunity for remote public comment. In the event an outage occurs or technical issues arise that impact the experience of remote attendees, we will attempt to resolve them but ultimately we cannot guarantee that they will be resolved satisfactorily.
Purpose of the meeting
The primary purpose of the GAP meeting is to prepare for the Pacific Council’s September 2023 meeting. The GAP will discuss items related to the advisory body’s particular management items as well as Pacific halibut and administrative matters on the Pacific Council’s agenda. There will also be a joint session with the MPC on marine planning. The focus of the joint session is to discuss the newly-released Oregon Wind Energy Areas. The GAP may also address other assignments as directed by the Pacific Council. No management actions will be decided by the GAP and MPC. The GAP and MPC recommendations will be considered by the Pacific Council at their September Council meeting.
