March 2025 Decision Summary Document

Council Meeting Decision Summary Documents are highlights of significant decisions made at Council meetings. Fishery policy decisions made by the Council are formally transmitted to the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) as recommendations and are not final until NMFS approval.  Results of agenda items that do not reach a level of highlight significance are typically not described in the Decision Summary Document.  For a more detailed account of Council meeting discussions, see the Council meeting record and transcripts.   

Trawl Catch Share Review Hearing to be in person April 28, 2025

The Pacific Fishery Management Council (Pacific Council) will convene a public hearing regarding the trawl catch share program review. The hearing will be held in Astoria, Oregon, on Monday, April 28, 2025, from 5:30p.m.-8:30 p.m. Pacific Time. Hearing times are an estimate, hearings will end when business for the day has been completed. This meeting is being conducted in person. Meeting location and specifics will be posted on the Pacific Council’s website (www.pcouncil.org) when available. 

Trawl Catch Share Review Hearing to be held online April 24, 2025

The Pacific Fishery Management Council (Pacific Council) will convene a public hearing regarding the trawl catch share program review. The hearing will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 1-4 p.m. Pacific Time. Ecosystem Advisory Subpanel to hold online meeting April 8, 2025

The Pacific Fishery Management Council’s (Pacific Council) Ecosystem Advisory Subpanel (EAS) will hold an online meeting, which is open to the public. The online meeting will be held Tuesday, April 8, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time, or until business for the day is completed. This meeting is being conducted remotely with a web broadcast that provides the opportunity for remote public comment. All Advisory Body Briefing to be held online April 1, 2025

The Pacific Fishery Management Council (Pacific Council) will provide a briefing on preliminary research and data needs to interested Pacific Council members, advisory body members, and the public. The online briefing will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2025 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. (Pacific Time) or until discussion is finished.

Highly Migratory Species Management Team to hold online meeting April 2, 2025

The Pacific Fishery Management Council’s (Pacific Council) Highly Migratory Species Management Team (HMSMT) is holding an online meeting. The online meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time. This meeting is being conducted remotely with a web broadcast that provides the opportunity for remote public comment. Groundfish Advisory Subpanel to meet online April 4, 2025

Pre-Assessment Workshop for Rougheye/Blackspotted and Sablefish to be held online Tuesday March 18, 2025

The Pacific Fishery Management Council (Pacific Council) and the NMFS Northwest Fisheries Science Center will convene a virtual pre-assessment workshop to review proposed data and modeling approaches to inform groundfish stock assessments for rougheye/blackspotted rockfish and sablefish scheduled for assessment during 2025.  The workshop is open to the public. The pre-assessment workshop will be held Tuesday, March 18, 2025 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Pacific Time or until business for the day has been completed.   

Highly Migratory Species Fisheries Innovation Workgroup to hold online meeting February 27, 2025

The Pacific Fishery Management Council (Pacific Council) will hold an online meeting of its Ad Hoc Highly Migratory Species (HMS) Fisheries Innovation Workgroup (FIW) to discuss procedures to facilitate the development of new HMS gears and achieve the goals of the HMS Roadmap. This meeting is open to the public. The online meeting will be held Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time, or until business for the day has been completed. This meeting is being conducted remotely with a web broadcast that provides the opportunity for remote public comment.
