Salmon Advisory Subpanel

Ryan Johnson serves as the Chair and Megan Waters serves as the Vice Chair of the Salmon Advisory Subpanel (SAS). The staff officer for the SAS is Angela Forristall.

The SAS is one of the Council’s advisory bodies, made up of individuals who bring a broad range of expertise and represent key stakeholder groups involved in salmon fishery management. Members provide valuable input on fishery management issues, long-term planning, and the development and impacts of fishery management plans, amendments, and regulations.

The SAS typically meets in person during the Council’s March and April meetings and may also meet virtually or in person at other times throughout the year, as needed. All meetings are open to the public, with opportunities for public comment available.

The current panel includes representatives from a variety of sectors within the salmon fishery:

  • 2 Tribal representatives
  • 1 Gillnetter
  • 3 Charter boat operators
  • 3 Trollers (one from each coastal state)
  • 5 Sport fishers
  • 1 Processor
  • 1 Conservation representative

These members bring regional knowledge and sector-specific perspectives that help guide the Council’s decision-making process for sustainable and effective fishery management.
