The Pacific Fishery Management Council’s (Pacific Council) Salmon Technical Team (STT) will hold a work session February 21-24, 2023, which is open to the public. The meeting will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2023, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Wednesday, February 22 through Friday, February 24 from 9 am to 4 pm Pacific Standard Time, or until business for the day is completed.  The meeting is tentatively scheduled to be held in-person at the Pacific Council office located at 7700 NE Ambassador Place, Suite 101, Portland, OR 97220; however, the venue is subject to change and may be held online.

Purpose of the work session

The STT will meet for a public work session to draft “Preseason Report I – Stock Abundance Analysis and Environmental Assessment Part 1 for 2023 Ocean Salmon Fishery Regulations” and to consider any other estimation or methodology issues pertinent to the 2023 ocean salmon fisheries. The STT may also discuss additional topics and work as time allows, including but not limited to the language for southern resident killer whale management measures in the salmon Fishery Management Plan, scoping for potential updates to the Sacramento River and Klamath River fall Chinook conservation objectives, southern Oregon/northern California Coast coho exploitation rate forecasts, and ecosystem or administrative matters on the Pacific Council’s March and April 2023 meetings.
