Coastal Pelagic Species Management Team to hold online meeting March 2, 2023

The Pacific Fishery Management Council’s (Pacific Council) Coastal Pelagic Species Management Team will hold an online meeting which is open to the public. The meeting will be held Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific Standard Time or until business for the day has been completed. This meeting is being conducted remotely with a web broadcast that provides the opportunity for remote public comment. In the event an outage occurs or technical issues arise that impact the experience of remote attendees, we will attempt to resolve them but ultimately we cannot guarantee that they will be resolved satisfactorily.

Purpose of the meeting

The primary purpose of this meeting is to discuss and develop work products and recommendations for the Pacific Council’s March and April 2023 meetings.  Topics will include reviewing the 2022-2023 California Current Ecosystem report and fishery ecosystem plan initiatives.  Other items on the Pacific Council’s March and April agendas may be discussed as well.  The meeting agenda will be available on the Pacific Council’s website in advance of the meeting.

Briefing on the Workplan for the Ecosystem and Climate Information Initiative 

The Ad Hoc Ecosystem Workgroup (EWG) will brief Pacific Fishery Management Council (Council) advisory body members and interested public on the work plan it is developing for the Fishery Ecosystem Plan Initiative on Ecosystem and Climate Information for Species, Fisheries, and Fishery Management Plans.

Briefing on the 2022-2023 California Current Ecosystem Status Report

Members of the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration’s California Current Integrated Ecosystem Assessment Team will brief Pacific Fishery Management Council advisory body members and interested public on the contents of the 2022-2023 California Current Ecosystem Status Report.

Pre-Assessment Workshop for Copper, Canary, and Black Rockfish to be held online January 31 & February 1, 2023

The Pacific Fishery Management Council (Pacific Council) and the National Marine Fisheries Service Northwest and Southwest Fisheries Science Centers will convene an online pre-assessment workshop to review proposed data and modeling approaches to inform groundfish stock assessments for copper rockfish, canary rockfish, and black rockfish, scheduled for assessment during 2023.
