The Salmon Model Evaluation Workgroup (MEW) is a technical advisory group to the Pacific Fishery Management Council. Established by the Council in November 2002, the MEW’s purpose is to assist in documentation, validation, and modification of models employed in the salmon management process.
The MEW typically holds one official meeting per year, usually on the first day of the PFMC’s April meeting, with additional meetings as needed (such as to support the October Salmon Methodology Review).
The staff officer of the MEW is Angela Forristall.
The MEW has seats for representatives from the Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission (NWIFC), Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission (CRITFC), Washington, Oregon, and California Departments of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW, ODFW, and CDFW), Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG), NOAA Fisheries (NMFS), and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS).
