Fishery Management Plan and Amendments: FMP: Amendment 21-3

Amendment 21-3: At-Sea Whiting Set-Asides for Darkblotched and Pacific Ocean Perch (POP)

In September 2016, the Council took action to change the at-sea whiting sector allocations of darkblotched rockfish and POP to set-asides, while maintaining the allocation formulas in the Fishery Management Plan (FMP) for these two stocks to determine the set-aside amounts. At the September 2017 meeting, the Council adopted FMP language for Amendment 21-3 pertaining to at-sea set-asides of darkblotched rockfish and Pacific ocean perch.

  • Final rule: NMFS issues this final rule to change the management of the Pacific whiting at-sea sectors’ allocations for darkblotched rockfish and Pacific ocean perch (POP) by managing the allocations as set-asides rather than as total catch limits, under the authority of the Pacific Coast Groundfish Fishery Management FMP – Amendment 21-3, trawl rationalization program (January 8, 2018)
  • Proposed rule; request for comments: NMFS has published the proposed rule for Pacific Coast Groundfish FMP Amendment 21-3; interim measures to change the management of the Pacific whiting at-sea sectors’ (i.e.,the Mothership and Catcher/Processor sectors) allocations for darkblotched rockfish and Pacific ocean perch (October 30, 2017)
