Community Advisory Board to Hold Webinar February 7, 2017

The Pacific Fishery Management Council’s (Council) trawl catch share five-year review Community Advisory Board (CAB), will hold a webinar, which is open to the public.  The CAB webinar will be on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Pacific Time, or when business for the day is complete.  The CAB will review the Council actions from the November 2016 Council meeting, continue preliminary discussions of actions that might follow-on from the five year review of the trawl catch share program, and make plans for its May/June 2017 meeting.

NMFS Publishes Final Rule: “List of Fisheries for 2017”

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) publishes its final List of Fisheries (LOF) for 2017, as required by the Marine Mammal Protection Act.  The final LOF for 2017 reflects new information on interactions between commercial fisheries and marine mammals.

This final rule is effective February 13, 2017. Information regarding the LOF may be obtained from the NMFS LOF website. You may also download the Final Rule published January 12, 2017.

Highly Migratory Species Advisory Subpanel to Hold Webinar, Tuesday, January 31

The Pacific Fishery Management Council’s (Pacific Council) Highly Migratory Species Advisory Subpanel (HMSAS) will hold a webinar, which is open to the public.

Webinar Date and Purpose

The HMSAS webinar will be on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Pacific Time, or when business for the day is complete.  The HMSAS will be briefed on proposed changes to the Fishery Management Plan for U.S. West Coast Fisheries for Highly Migratory Species (HMS FMP).  Changes are proposed in Chapters 1, 4, 6, and 8.  These changes are not intended to change the management framework described in the FMP or any related policies; rather, edits update descriptive information and improve the readability of the document.
