2020 Pacific Halibut Catch Sharing Plan and Annual Regulation Proposed Changes, Including the Non-Indian Directed Commercial Fishery

The Council adopted for public review proposed changes to the 2019 Area 2A Pacific Halibut Catch Sharing Plan and annual fishing regulations. These changes are specific to the Washington and Oregon recreational fisheries and are described in the reports provided by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (Agenda Item G.1.a, Supplemental WDFW Report, September, 2019) and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (Agenda Item G.1.a, ODFW Report, September, 2019).  No changes were proposed for the California sub-area recreational fisheries.

In addition, the Council adopted for public review two preliminary recommendations for the 2020 Area 2A non-Indian directed commercial halibut fishery, which are provided here.

The Council is scheduled to adopt the final changes to the 2020 CSP and annual fishing regulations at their November 15-20 meeting in Costa Mesa, California. Public comment materials received through the e-portal BY 5:00 pm, Thursday, October 17, 2019, will be available to Council members and appropriate advisory bodies prior to the November meeting. Public comment materials received via e-portal  after the October 17, 2019, 5:00 pm deadline, but BY 5:00 pm, Monday, November 4, 2019 will be included in the supplemental materials distributed to the Council on the first day of the November meeting.
