Ad Hoc Ecosystem Workgroup to Hold Webinar February 26

The Pacific Fishery Management Council’s (Council) Ad Hoc Ecosystem Workgroup (EWG) will hold a webinar, which is open to the public.  The webinar will be held on Monday, February 26, 2018  from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Pacific Time, or when business for the day is completed.

Purpose of the Webinar

At its September 2017 meeting, the Council decided to embark on the Climate and Communities Initiative pursuant to its Fishery Ecosystem Plan. The purpose of this initiative is to help the Council, its advisory bodies, and the public to better understand the effects of near-term climate shift and long-term climate change on our fish, fisheries, and fishing communities and identify ways in which the Council could incorporate such understanding into its decision-making. The EWG will be submitting a report to the Council at its March 2018 meeting with its recommendations on the development of this initiative.  This webinar is an opportunity for members of other Council advisory bodies and the public to be briefed on the EWG’s recommendations in preparation for the March Council meeting.
