Coastal Pelagic Species Management Team to Hold Meeting October 8-9, 2014

The Pacific Fishery Management Council will convene a meeting of its Coastal Pelagic Species Management Team (CPSMT), which is open to the public. The primary purpose of the meeting is to further develop the draft environmental assessment (EA) for Pacific sardine harvest fraction.

The CPSMT will continue work on the description of the alternatives, work on the analysis of alternatives, as well as other parts of the EA. In 2013, the Council initiated a process to consider using a new temperature index as well as a new temperature-recruitment relationship, in sardine harvest control rules. The analysis in the draft EA will help the Council make an informed decision when it takes final action at its November 2014 meeting.

The meeting will begin at 12:00 p.m. October 8, 2014, and at 8:00 a.m. on October 9, 2014. The meeting will adjourn each day at 5:00 p.m. or when business for the day has been completed. Public comment may be accommodated if time allows, at the discretion of the CPSMT Chair.
