Council to Adopt Management Measures for
2009 Ocean Salmon Fisheries
Council Meeting Dates: April 2-9, 2009
The Pacific Fishery Management Council (Council) and its advisory entities will meet
April 2-9, 2009, in Millbrae, California to address issues related to salmon, Pacific
halibut, groundfish, highly migratory species, marine protected areas, and essential
fish habitat.
Agenda
Key agenda items include Council considerations to:

Adopt final management measures for the 2009 ocean salmon fisheries.

Adopt 2009 incidental catch regulations for Pacific halibut in troll salmon troll
and fixed gear sablefish fisheries.

Define coastal fishery associations and adopt parameters for adaptive
management as part of the trawl rationalization program for the groundfish
fishery.

Adopt final preferred alternative for intersector allocation in the groundfish
fishery.

Adopt inseason adjustments to the 2009 groundfish fishery.

Consider fishery management plan amendments to implement annual catch limit
requirements for groundfish and highly migratory species fisheries.

Adopt an amendment to the highly migratory species fishery management plan
for high seas shallow.set longline fisheries.

Public Comment Guidelines
The public is encouraged to comment, either verbally at the meeting or in writing. Timing of agenda items may change as the meeting progresses, and items not completed on the scheduled day will be carried over to later in the meeting, usually the next day.

Written Public Comments

The public is encouraged to submit any written public comments as far in advance of the meeting as possible.

Comments received by 11:59 pm on March 30, 2009 will be included in the briefing books mailed to Council members prior to the meeting.

If you cannot meet this latter deadline, but would like your written comments distributed to Council members at the meeting, please bring 40 three-hole punched copies to the meeting with the agenda item topic number in the upper right corner of the front page of each copy.
