Set 2009 Pacific Whiting Fishery Management Measures
Council Meeting Dates: March 7-13, 2009
The Pacific Fishery Management Council (Council) and its advisory entities will
meet March 7-13, 2009, in Seattle, Washington to address issues related to salmon, Pacific halibut, groundfish, coastal pelagic species, and essential fish habitat.
Agenda
Key agenda items include Council considerations to:

Adopt options for the 2009 ocean salmon fisheries for public review.

Adopt public review options for 2009 incidental catch regulations for Pacific halibut in salmon troll and sablefish fisheries.

Adopt final accumulation limits as part of the trawl rationalization program for the groundfish fishery.

Adopt final management recommendations for the 2009 Pacific whiting fishery.

Adopt inseason adjustments to the 2009 groundfish fishery.

Adopt final limited entry provisions for the groundfish fishery.

Adopt a provisional exempted fishing permit for sardine research, for public review.

Public Comment Guidelines
The public is encouraged to comment, either verbally at the meeting or in writing. Timing of agenda items may change as the meeting progresses, and items not completed on the scheduled day will be carried over to later in the meeting, usually the next day.

Oral public comments will be accepted prior to action on each agenda item.
Written Public Comments

The public is encouraged to submit any written public comments as far in advance of the meeting as possible.

Comments received by 11:59 pm on February 18, 2009 will be included in the briefing books mailed to Council members prior to the meeting.

Comments received after February 18, 2008 but by 11:59 pm on March 3 will be distributed to Council members at the onset of the meeting.

If you cannot meet this latter deadline, but would like your written comments distributed to Council members at the meeting, please bring 40 three-hole punched copies to the meeting with the agenda item topic number in the upper right corner of the front page of each copy. Refer to the Agenda for the topic numbers.
