Council Meeting, April 6-11, 2003
Council to Adopt Final Seasons for the 2003 Ocean Salmon Fisheries
The Pacific Fishery Management Council (Council) and its advisory entities will meet April 6-11, 2003, in Vancouver, Washington to address management of fisheries for salmon, groundfish, Pacific halibut, coastal pelagic species, and habitat management issues.
Key action items include:

Adoption of final management measures for the 2003 ocean salmon fisheries.

Consideration of preliminary draft rebuilding plans for darkblotched rockfish, Pacific ocean perch, lingcod, and canary rockfish.

Establishing the process and schedule for setting 2004 management measures for the groundfish fishery.

Consideration of inseason adjustments to some groundfish fisheries.

Updates on development of the groundfish essential fish habitat environmental impact statement.

Adoption of proposed 2003 incidental catch regulations for Pacific halibut.
-
Approval of a regulatory amendment for changes to the sardine allocation.

Meetings of the Council and its advisory entities will be held at the Red Lion Hotel Vancouver at the Quay, 100 Columbia Street, Vancouver, Washington 98660; (360) 694-8341. All meetings are open to the public, except a closed session to be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, April 7, to discuss litigation and personnel matters.

Public Comment Guidelines
The public is encouraged to comment, either verbally at the meeting, or in writing. Oral public comments on action items on the agenda will be accepted prior to action on each item. The timing of agenda items may change as the meeting progresses. Items not completed on the scheduled day will be carried over to the next day. Public comments on fishery issues not on the agenda will be accepted on Tuesday, April 8, at 4 p.m.
Written public comments are accepted by the Council at any time. However, the public is encouraged to submit written comments as far in advance of the meeting as possible. Comments received by March 21, 2003 will be included in the briefing books mailed to Council members prior to the meeting. Comments received by April 1, 2003 will be distributed to Council members at the onset of the meeting. If you cannot meet this latter deadline, but would like your written comments distributed to Council members at this meeting, please bring 40 copies to the meeting for distribution. These copies need to include the Agenda Item Topic Number in the upper right corner of the front page.
