Council and Advisory Bodies: Current Advisory Body Vacancies

Ecosystem Advisory Subpanel Vacancy

The Pacific Fishery Management Council (Council) is requesting nominations of qualified candidates to fill a vacant California seat on its Ecosystem Advisory Subpanel (EAS) for the 2013-2015 advisory body term.  The EAS has been charged to work with the Ecosystem Plan Development Team to help develop a fishery ecosystem plan (FEP) for the Council.  The initial FEP is scheduled to be approved at the Council’s June 2013 meeting.  While it appears the initial work on the FEP will be completed before the vacant EAS position is filled, the FEP will be a living document and is likely to require further input from the EAS in the future. View a PDF copy of the EAS Vacancy Announcement, which outlines the full details of the advisory supbanel duties.

The EAS consists of 11 subpanel members representing a broad spectrum and geographic distribution of commercial, recreational, community, conservation, and public concerns and knowledge within the Council management area.  The current vacancy is for one of three California at-large positions for persons with knowledge and expertise regarding ecosystem and fishery issues on the Pacific Coast, especially with regard to the State of California.

Nomination Procedures

Nominations may be sent by mail, FAX, or email, but must include a completed Pacific Council Advisory Body Nomination Form (download below, or contact the Council office).  The completed form will provide contact information and a brief summary of the nominee’s qualifications for the California ecosystem position, including the type and length of relevant experience.  Individuals may nominate themselves or be nominated by other individuals or organizations.  The position is for the remainder of a three-year term ending December 31, 2015.  Appointments will be made at the June 20-25, 2013 Council meeting in Garden Grove, California.  To ensure consideration, nominations should be received at the Council office no later than Wednesday, May 22, 2013.
