October 3, 2012
The Pacific Fishery Management Council (Council) will convene a stock assessment update review meeting Tuesday, October 2 through Wednesday, October 3, 2012, in La Jolla, California, which is open to the public.
The purpose of the meeting is to review the updated stock assessment for Pacific sardine. There was a full assessment in 2011, and the 2012 update will use the same modeling platform and basic parameters, consistent with the Council’s Terms of Reference on stock assessment updates. The updated assessment will be reviewed by members of the Scientific and Statistical Committee’s Subcommittee on Coastal Pelagic Species (CPS). The Council will use the 2012 updated assessment to establish sardine fishery management measures and harvest specifications for the 2013 fishing year. Representatives of the Council’s CPS Management Team and the CPS Advisory Subpanel will also attend the meeting.
The meeting will be held Tuesday, October 2 through Wednesday, October 3, starting each day at 8:30 a.m. and concluding at 5:00 p.m. or until business for each day is completed.
