Trawl Rationalization Cost Recovery Committee to Hold Meeting

July 29, 2011

8:30 am to 12:00 pm

The Pacific Fishery Management Council (Pacific Council) recently appointed the membership of the Cost Recovery Committee (CRC).  Please see Chairman Cedergreen’s announcement to view the committee purpose and roster.

The Pacific Council will convene a meeting of the CRC that is open to the public.  The primary purpose of the meeting is to develop advice for the Pacific Council on the development of a cost recovery program whereby the fishing industry is assessed a fee to pay for a portion of the costs of the recently implemented groundfish trawl rationalization program.  The CRC will 1) discuss the federal and state materials put forward at the recent June, 2011 Pacific Council meeting, and 2) develop a recommendation to the Pacific Council for their September meeting on a process to complete a Council recommendation on a cost recovery program.  Other topics may be discussed as time allows, at the discretion of the CRC Chair.

Meeting Date and Time

The meeting will be held on Friday, July 29, 2011, from 8:30 a.m. – noon, Pacific Daylight Time.  The meeting will primarily be conducted in a virtual, remote access format, utilizing a combination of internet live streaming of meeting materials and an audio connection via telephone conference call line.

While most participants are expected to participate electronically, participation in the meeting will also be possible by attendance at the Pacific Council office Large Conference Room, at 7700 NE Ambassador Place, Suite 101, Portland, Oregon, 97220.
